Processing times dropped by 1–2 months as of July 7, 2026 for Canadian Experience Class, base PNP, Quebec Business Class, and Parent & Grandparent Program applicants; citizenship grant wait times hit a four-month low.
The In-Canada Workers Initiative (TR-to-PR pathway) is fast-tracking up to 33,000 temporary workers to PR in 2026–2027, targeting applicants already in the PNP, Atlantic Immigration Program, Rural/Francophone Community pilots, Caregiver pilots, and Agri-Food Pilot who have lived in smaller communities for at least 2 years.
Spousal sponsorship (outside Quebec) and Express Entry-aligned PNP applicants saw processing times increase by one month in the July 7 update.
What You Should Do
- If you applied through PNP, AIP, RCIP, FCIP, Caregiver pilots, or Agri-Food Pilot and have lived in a smaller Canadian community for 2+ years, check your application status on your MyCIC account at canada.ca/my-immigration — no separate action is needed, but confirm IRCC has your current contact details so they can reach you.
- If you are a CEC applicant, verify your current processing time estimate at canada.ca/immigration-processing-times — as of July 7, 2026, CEC is at 6 months (within IRCC's 6-month service standard), so flag any delays beyond that window to IRCC via a web form at ircc.canada.ca/enquiries.
- If you are in spousal sponsorship (outside Quebec) or Express Entry-aligned PNP, update your processing time expectation to account for the 1-month increase reported July 7, 2026, and check canada.ca/immigration-processing-times on or after the next update (expected around August 7, 2026) for changes.
- Citizenship applicants: wait times are at a four-month low as of July 7, 2026. If your application has exceeded 4 months with no update, submit a web form inquiry at ircc.canada.ca/enquiries and reference your UCI number.
- TR-to-PR eligible workers waiting on PR who need to keep working: check if you qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) at canada.ca/bridging-open-work-permit to maintain work authorization while your PR application is processed.
