What You Should Do

• -If you plan to sponsor a spouse or parent/grandparent to Quebec, prepare your undertaking application now so you can submit on July 2, 2026 when intake reopens — MIFI will prioritize older applications, so early submission matters. Monitor the MIFI website at immigration.gouv.qc.ca for the exact submission portal and instructions.
• -If you are sponsoring an adult dependent child (age 18–21, unmarried) to Quebec, confirm you no longer need to count them under the cap by reviewing the updated MIFI press release at immigration.gouv.qc.ca before submitting your application.
• -If you are sponsoring a spouse inland (federally), apply for a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP) at the same time as your PR application — IRCC targets processing the SOWP within 30 days of acknowledgement, allowing your spouse to work for any Canadian employer while the 25-month inland process continues.
• -If you plan to sponsor parents or grandparents federally and cannot wait 20–24 months, consider applying for a Super Visa at ircc.canada.ca — it is a 10-year multi-entry visa allowing 5-year stays per entry and processes in 8–12 weeks. Ensure you meet the Minimum Necessary Income requirement of approximately CAD $54,595 for a 4-person family.
